Tips to Stay Hydrated all Summer!

Did you know that dehydration causes crankiness? Water helps us maintain body temperature, make bodily fluids and function day-to-day. Staying hydrated as this hot weather continues is a top priority. Here are some top tips to keep the crankiness at bay!

  • Offer more fruits and vegetables. Encourage your little one to eat more fruits and vegetables with high water content. These help them stay hydrated without forcing them to drink more water than they want. Hydrating vegetables include cucumber, tomato, zucchini, celery, and iceberg lettuce. Hydrating fruits include strawberries, watermelon, blueberries, cantaloupe, and grapefruit.

  • Make creative ice cubes and popsicles. Puree your little one’s fav fruits with water and freeze into ice cubes or ice pop molds. (NOM NOM kids have some fantastic reuseable ice pop bags, to make your own!
  • Flavour water with fresh fruit. Water is healthier than juice since many juices are packed with sugar. If your little one prefers the taste of juice, use fresh fruit to flavour their water. Lemon, berries, mint, and cucumber are great additions.
